Damaschini was a young Erlagon when he adventured too far from the city he was living in. Lost in a seemingly endless mountain chain he fainted from exhaustion and later woke up captured by a bunch of desert people who sold him as a slave to a group of trolls, far from his homeland.

Project F.A.S.T Damaschini's Log

This will be the log for the Fully Automated Sturdy Transporter (F.A.S.T). Day 1: started working in the forges for gold, blackfire swords. Day 5: talked with Talion's father, an artificer, for a partnership Day 7: +4300g from an old deposit, Yanis Day 8: struck a deal with Talion's father. Day 12: started working on the basics: joints, arms legs Day 14: making good progress with Rydaspis help and workshop Day 18: got a loan for the diamond heart Day 21: our first prototype is working, chunky moving, small scale, low resistance Day 22: walking tests failed, adjustments made Day 23: walking successful, small scale Day 24: problems rises, magic isolation . Day 28: received a letter from "a fire elemental" Note: Talion found himself a new party by the looks of it. I hope he doesn't curse them all as well with his actions. This girl Verfy, she is from the Great Southern Barrier, perhaps, as people call it. An archmage helped them. I am glad. They didn't listen to me when we came back from hell. A child? Sapphire path? THE BLACK SYLPH? They really want to do this. I cannot help them in my state. I need to finish my project... I'll send word for the ship. And I'll send her a token. The least I can do for now. I need to fight again. They must be careful. Day 32: Talion was around here, didn't bother to visit. Progress was slow. Day 34: started working on the diamond heart. Such an art Day 35: Rydaspis brought me an apprentice to teach Day 36: this heart is hard to work on Day 39: first fully working prototype, no heart, not that fragile, small scale Day 40: started to adapt and find better ways for walking and flow note: I miss Lyiaria. I ignored her last wish. Where is that letter? Day 41: took a break from working note: found the letter, I must honor Liyaria's wish. I will not let her sacrifice die in vain. I will avenge her. I swear it on my life. Day 42: resumed working on the diamond heart Day 48: good progress was made, waiting on materials for the main body Day 52: started sculpting some actual size components, test for stability and flow Day 54: more materials needed note: I will go to marion for a few days Day 57: came back to work Day 60: I think we finished the work on the diamond heart, more work needs to be done on the other components, flow still bad, no commands Day 65: experimenting on the old golem, probably another month before project done. Working day and night. Must finish as fast as possible. Day 66: concluded that we will work on the legs separately Day 68: gathering more topazes for "muscles" Day 71: started programming the effort quantity unit Day 72: Rydaspis solved the commands problem Day 75: main body is finished Day 77:plans for legs and head and schematics done, going practical now. Day 79: encountered problems with the legs, slight delay Day 83: head functions and behavior done. Day 97: assembly completed Day 98: preliminary tests passed Day 99: medium load tests passed Day 100: high load tests passed. Project completed.

Introduction into alchemy

Alchemy is the art of studying, refining and combining different materials and substances, found in nature or man-made, to obtain a different material or substance with enhanced properties. Alchemy encompasses both the physical and the magical in its practices. Most materials fall into one these 5 categories: foundations, acids, bases, latent materials, derivatives. Foundations: Foundations are pure materials that are capable of transmuting and absorbing magical energy. Most materials found in nature can be foundations. Acids: Acids are materials or substances that have a negative magical potential. Usually composites. Main physical characteristics: eats away at organic matter, accelerates oxidation of metals. Bases: Bases are materials or substances that have a positive magical potential. Usually composites. Main physical characteristics: bitter, conducts electricity, dissociation factor. Latent materials: Materials or composites that have passive magical properties. Those properties surface only when a magical impulse or magically active material/substance is interacting with them. Derivatives: Derivatives are materials that have already been altered with alchemy. They can fall in any category or none at all.

Main tools and equipment

Glass recipients and glass/metal utensils. Ovens and/or forges. Measuring devices for volume and mass. Tubing. Gloves. Eye protection. In extreme cases sealed and ventilated masks for oxygenation or protective suits. Fire starting gear. Very important: tools that come in contact with the substance in use must not react with it!

Magical stones

In nature there are a number of precious materials that have latent magical properties and are used in alchemy. Each is unique in its use and have a very well defined role in the creation of magical artifacts. Known stones so far: -obsidian is a perfect conductor for magical impulses. It's used in its solid state. Used mainly for transmitting unaltered magical impulses between components. The width depends on the power of the impulse. -quartz guides magical impulses in the physical word. It is usually used at the end of a cycle for defining shapes and form. -lapis is basically the opposite of obsidian. It cannot conduct, it absorbs and transforms into magical structures that act as physical ones. Mostly used for magical weapons such as blades, bows etc. -opal acts as a sedative for magical impulses. It weakens the power and lowers the dispersion. -amethyst extracts magical impulses and absorbs them by force. Used for defensive purposes. -sapphire stabilizes magical impulses. It brings the power and dispersion to an equilibrium. Used for more precision. -topaz is a cheap alternative for storing magical impulses. Due to it's low storing factor it is usually used for dosing systems or for rapid releasing of magic. -ruby converts magical power into physical power and raises the dispersion. Used for damaging artifacts. -emerald can react to the will embedded into the magical impulse. It requires a caster to work. It can stack magical power and effects. Used for artifacts with multiple stones. -diamond has the best storing capabilities and has limitless potential for "programing" magical impulses. Through very precise carving methods you can influence an impulses properties, behavior and effects. *For any of this to work a carefully crafted network of paths must first be implemented. Magic does not simply travel through air. Once a magical impulse leaves a magical circuit it cannot be interacted with. Alchemical manufacturing of a magical impulse is done in a controlled way.

Fight

At Marion. Why... Why is this question the only thing I can think of? Why did I have to go through all of this? Why did Liyaria die? Why this? Why everyone? Why everything? Why... I cannot stop... Not now. But I've lost everything... Liyaria, Miyun, Evhai, Nerissa, Talion, Mazog. I have nothing. Not even me. I've died already... There, in hell... I never got out... That's where I am, even now. That's where everybody went because I led them there... Everybody is rotting in hell. And I didn't even realise that. No. It can't be. This is no hell. It's worse than that. It's life, a mortal feeble life. A worthless life. Just like me, like everybody, like anything. Nothing matters. It never did... What matters is... Love matters. Love... matters... I had love, and did nothing with it. I don't want love anymore. Liyaria deserved love. They all deserved it. Everybody deserves it. I will not let her corrupt my mind again! No! All she had shown me was hate, despair, revenge, disbelief. I always looked away. I ignored it. Everything that was of this word. I blinded myself with my own light. This time will be different. I believe it. I trust the Almighty will hear my prayer. The reason I trust Him is because I was born in this world... Because I was born to witness its horrors and sins. Because I was born able to choose which side I take. And now I am choosing. Hear me, God, and bless me with your wrath and your ignorance. Take my light and toss me into the darkness. Trust me to find my own way back to you. I beg of You. Make me go through everything I went through again. Make my life on this earth a nightmare and look at me, judge me every step I make. I will not betray Your trust, again. I swear... not on my life, which I don't own, but on the love I have. Save the souls of those I love, and forget about mine... I will fight everything that's thrown at me, everything... Because if I don't fight, I am not living... For Liyaria... For everybody...
