Diluvium

Two thousand years ago, a wave of energy struck Earth. It shattered the lands, scattered the people, and inundated the planet with the power of Chaos. This event would come to be known as the Deluge of Ruin.   The world was brought to the brink of destruction but was pulled from its broken state by Melodia, the Titan of Balance. She counteracted the baleful powers of Chaos, stabilizing the rampant mutations that had plagued humanity. She sent forth a legion of robotic servants, who built temples to harness the powers of Cosmos to stabilize Earth. This created a mystic veil to shield it from the scrying of both Chaos and Order.   But they would find the world anyway. When the alien Zalamandi arrived, fleeing their homeworld which had fallen to the forces of Order, Order arrived with them, and Chaos shortly thereafter. They aided Earth in repelling both Chaos and Order, and Melodia sealed away the invaders within the Nether Realm.   But they had managed to damage the temples, and while repairing them was easy, preventing the malevolent invaders from returning added a strain upon them they weren't designed to bear. And so, the first Scion sacrificed his life, to strengthen the temples and the bulwark they provided against Chaos and Order.   Many centuries have passed since then, and Earth has begun to progress beyond where it was before the Deluge of Ruin nearly destroyed it. But troubles stir in the shadows. Perhaps the Scion's sacrifice only delayed the inevitable...
