Guon

The Ejii'aari telepathic hive-mind, called the "Oneness" in Andellian common. Guon is a limited telepathic connection to the other members of the species where one can hear the minds and songs of the others, the strength of the connection varying according to blood ties and distance from one another. Consequences of Guon is limited individuality (there is little variability in the values and culture of individual Ejii'aari), instant, approximate and flexible reactions to events (for example, reaction to an invasion), the overall advancement of the species as a whole due to instant communication between members. Guon works well with Jianghi as Jianghi allows the individual to better control their connection to it and define their individuality. The Legates, the Ejii'aari of the Enclave, are Ejii'aari who possess both a capacity for enhanced individuality and the ability to fully erase their individuality to become Guon. As such, they have a stronger influence on the actions of all Ejii'aari for when it comes to directing how the species works together.

Manifestation

Guon manifests itself in most Ejii'aari, the exceptions being the Voiceless Lost, the non-Ejianese Ejii'aari (ex: Ejii'aari from Andellion) and a few unfortunate Ejianese Ejii'aari. In normal Ejianese Ejii'aari, it is the telepathic link between all members of the species that varies with distance and blood relations. It has a strong impact on Ejii'aari culture and mores, and on interspecies relationships. Culture-wise, it leads to the mostly silent communications between Ejii'aari. In their mind-voices, Ejii'aari change the musicality (rythm and tune) and colour of their communictions to communicate an extremely large array of emotions. Voice-based conversations being mostly for interspecies relations, and the commonn Ejii'aari often has difficulties reading emotions and intent without the colour-song reference. Another manifestation of Guon is the lack of importance given to linear chains of events and the occasional difficulty to tell reality from myth, as the species memory is a disorganized amalgam from the experience of all individuals having lived.
Author Meta-Data: The Guon hive-mind can be conceptualized as a network of individuals, with the same general concepts as real-world network such as the brain. As such, the hive-mind has the following properties:

• Individuals are nodes in the network
• Small world properties: any individual can reach any other individual through a limited amount of "steps"
• Rich club nodes: the Legates-->well connected individuals which kind of act like central relays (killing a Legate will disrupt the network)
• Local organization: individuals functionally and emotionally close to each other are more likely to be connected in the network
• Network of networks: functionally-connected individuals from local networks, which themselves are connected via a network to neighbouring neighbourhoods, forming functional regions which themselves are networked together.

The network is basically a meta-brain, in which "neurons" are the collection of individuals.
