Skypods
The Skypods are indigenous plants from the region of keywooth. Originaly from the mountains, they have moved a lot due to their floating properties.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The sky pods are a long tall, vine that are held up in the air by flowers wich are doubled petals. Those flower create small balloons filled with hydrogen wich make it float. Those are located on the higher portion of the plants.
Those balloons holds the seed of the plants wich is directly attaches to the stem.
The stems have a coconut tree like bark for the first 8' from the bottom with then tapers and soften as it gets higher up on the plant.
The roots looks like an onion root system without the bulb. those roots are directly attached to the bottom of the vine and are quite strong and bark-y.
Biological Traits
some plants live longer due to their relationship with avian people.
Those who lives on the floating island nurish them so that they stay longer in the air.
Due to this, they also get taller and have bigger stems
Genetics and Reproduction
the flower balloons contains seeds wich when they are ripe detach from the stem and puncture the baloon, sending it flying in the air wich then fall on the ground and create a new plant
Growth Rate & Stages
When the plant become at full size, typically after 30-40 years, the roots system that keeps it in place against the high winds, combined with the flower balloons that makes it float, detach the terrains that is underneath and make it go up in the air.
It then stays in the air until all the nutrients are eaten from the soil and then falls down to create a new layer of nutrient by decomposing
