Desierto del Tesoro (Desert of Treasure)

Welcome to the Desierto del Tesoro.   Many years ago, rumor went around of a treasure so great, it could grant all wishes and give inconceivable power. That treasure is said to be located in the Desierto del Tesoro, a huge expanse of desert in the middle of an Island on an otherwise unremarkable planet habited by various races. The desert is surrounded by fields and small forests.   Travelers from all over, from many races and species across the land caught wind of the rumor and have come to stake their claim in the desert and hopefully find the fabled treasure. However, the desert both gives and takes. It is filled with tremendous treasures, artifacts and other valuable that everyone vies for. In exchange, the desert is one of the most dangerous places in the galaxy, filled with pitfalls, traps, dangerous creatures and sweeping sandstorms.   There is minimal government presence, mainly focused around the outer rim of the Island. The desert is mainly lawless, as weapons and tech do the talking there. There is always a chance that when a band of explorers find a valuable artifact in the desert, another band is close by, ready to fight for it.   What good is treasure though if there is no one to buy it? There exists a unique connection between the other rim of fields and the inner desert. The other rim fuels the expeditions of travelers and in return, they receive a portion of the treasure. This leaves no one really impoverished, as those with less means to venture deep in the desert generally team up with larger groups to increase their chances of survival and retrieval. One of the main trading outposts between travelers and farmers is Wanders Way, a unique village located between the sections of the island. All walks of life can be found here, and it isn’t uncommon for violence to ensue is a deal turns south. Due to the high tech nature of many of the explorers, most skirmishes are dealt with quickly.   In the beginning of the expeditions, races from all over worked together in order to explore further into the desert, however as time has gone on, people of different races have started to fight over superiority. Four major races emerged in the race for treasure, being the Drac, Humans, Androids, and Fairies. The Drac are very violent and have trouble coalescing with other races. The humans and androids are neutral and have been know to be but vicious and kind. Fairies, being native to the Island, are benevolent.   There is no one set military running the island. It is very much a free-for-all with different groups of travelers having more power than others due to numbers or better technology. Those with the best technology have the best chances to return with their pockets laden with treasure as plasma guns can deal with large creature and high tech maps help prevent the explorers from getting lost.   “May your wildest dreams come true in the Desierto del Tesoro”
