The Watcher in the Trees

According to local believes, in times long gone an Fey council ruled these trees. Their presence angered Aurorax who send soldiers with axes and sword to bring them down. These majestic creatures and their kin defended their lands, forests north-west of Aurorax's capitol. Ant they fought for every tree and every branch until the only branches remained where those of the massive tree, at the hearth of their domain, that was their home.   Defeat was only a matter of time, and when their forest was cut and burned, and the massive tree was felled and incinerated the council was shattered. Yet their essence lingered and when the rich soil sprouted a new forest infused the forest it was infused by their essence, which now guards these trees, now the forest sleep, awaiting for man foolish enough to bring axes to their bark once again, to this time defend itself.   Locals also believe that sometimes, in low light the shades of this council can be seen, watching from the branches over those wandering amidst their trees, and if required call down the might of the trees. Many a lumberjack who though to get some easy lumber met an sudden demise when their axes struck bark. Despite the warnings of the Elves that roam these forests.
