Reincarnation Hijacking

With the birth rate and population decline in recent generations, the Cosmic Dragon has taken it upon themself to create a new influx of dragons by interrupting the natural process souls go through after death to ensure that those hand-chosen by the Cosmic Dragon reincarnate within specific parameters; e.g. that they are reborn as a dragon within Earth's Underground. While this has proven quite successful aside from the shock of once-thought unfertilized eggs hatching into healthy infant dragons, more recently there has been an odd side effect cropping up in the humans selected to become dragons: after a certain amount of time, they start to regain the memories of their lives as humans, not only that, but the time frame for this have been shrinking more and more. While this doesn't concern the Cosmic Dragon enough to stop what they are doing, they are curious as to what will happen when they start retaining all of their human memories at rebirth.

Symptoms

As with any reincarnation, the subject is cycled into a new life. Unlike most uninterrupted instances, the meddling of the Cosmic Dragon both forces reincarnation as a dragon and leaves the new physical body somewhat mutable to the whims of the reincarnating soul during incubation.

Treatment

If one were to ask the Cosmic Dragon, they would say it is a gift being bestowed upon the forcefully reincarnated souls, and question why one would seek treatment. In theory one could try taking their own draconic life, but the Cosmic Dragon would mostly just give you another one.

Prognosis

As with all reincarnation, the prognosis is that of life itself: hatch, live life, die, rinse, repeat.

Prevention

This is the work of a cosmic entity; there isn't anything a mortal can do to resist what amounts to divine intervention.
