Dark Powers
A supernatural force beyond any understanding, known simply as the dark powers controls the rules and bounds of the Shadowfell. The borders of the Shadowfell and Ravenloft's domains of dread are marked by a thick, ever-shifting mist that is seemingly controlled by the dark powers. While the darklords of Ravenloft can control whether their domain's border is open, it is the dark powers that ultimately decides that fate.Ravenloft
Ravenloft is a landmass located in the Sea of Sorrow, separated from the rest of the Shadowfell. The area is split into Domains of Dread, a series of minature realms designed to imprison entities that have violated the rules of the land. Each domain is personalized for their respective Darklord, the entity that remains imprisoned, and is designed to inflict never-ending torment on said individual.Barovia
The first domain to have been formed after Count Strahd Von Zarovich made a deal with the Dark Powers, committed fratricide, and became the first vampire. The land he once ruled was ripped from the Material Plane and placed in the Shadowfell, now populated by soulless human husks created by the Dark Powers. Strahd is cursed to forever seek his lost love and relive the tragedy that he created.The Burning Peaks
The decaying forests of Tovag and the desolate wasteland of Cavitius border each other with eternally erupting volcanoes. Home to darklords Vecna and Kas who are trapped in an enternal war against the other. Orders from Citadel Cavitius have been silent for a while now.Lamordia
A frozen region dotted with mountains, castles, and wrecked ships. Ruled by the cruel Doctor Viktra Mordenheim, who cheated death and brought her deceased wife back from the dead, leaving herself forever doomed to search for her lost love.
