The Coedyr - Wood Elves

Natures Wardens

Wood elves are the children and servants of Glethelar. They are an offshoot of the original High Elves but not direct descendants of them, being created in their image by Glethelar to serve the forests, and domains of Glethelar. Wood Elves are most likely the second sentient species to inhabit the world, being created alongside the vast and complicated ecosystems of nature that was created by Glethelar, while these ecosystems dominate the wildlife of the entire world, it is in the forest where this natural order is held most sacred and preserved when possible. Wood elves tend to be a friendly people and often prefer to give outsiders the benefit of the doubt, that they are simply ignorant when it comes to their dealings with nature. It is said the Wood Elves had to teach mankind to treat nature correctly, that the world will provide and things must be hunted and preserved, harvested and planted in equal order.   Wood Elves live in communities deep in the forests of Deghrom. The largest communities are in the Glenn and the forests around Lake Xanthus.

Wild Elves(Malainyr)

The Malainyr, or Wild Elves as called by all other races of the world are the cousins of the Wood Elves. Like the wood elves, they are one with the natural state of the world, however they are much more territorial and aggressive than wood elves, attacking without warning those who encroach on their lands. If such behavior continues they become even more brutal and savage, constructing bloody totems of corpses to ward off 'invaders.' The most well known branch of Wild Elves were those that resided in the Great Kelish forest. Legends say many years ago, in the time just after the world was created,  twisted nameless things byproducts of the creation of the world, mashed and formed together at the very foundations of Deghrom began to seep up to the surface around Mount Wihr in the Kelish forest. The groups of Wood Elves there were made to fight against these abominable horrors for hundreds of years, adapting to kill these things, they became violent and savage but eventually won, cleansing the forest.   Hundreds of years ago Humans and Dwarves began to migrate toward the Kelish forest, the Wild Elves saw them as impure, slaughtering first an expedition of trouble making dwarves then years later tribes of men. After a long war, the tribes of men joined together and defeated the Wild Elves, enslaving their kind permanently. Even now Wild Elves are mostly slaves, though rumors of free groups in hidden groves persist. There is another branch of Wild Elves in the rainforest of Myz.
