Intrepid Traders

The Istrosi are the most widespread native inhabitants of the southern continent of Istros, being named after it. Istrosi people created the first civilization on the continent in the form of city states and tribes that grew crops and established themselves. These people would eventually come under the rule of various governments, much like the Ortysian city states. Istrosi are widespread, having established communities in Markla and some Ortysian Isles. Widespread and adaptive, the Istrosi know the continent, it's history and the people who live there best, most frown upon savagery and tribalism, looking down upon ignorant nomads and tribals while praising civilizations and their innovations though they are not above trading with as many peoples as possible. While Istrosi do not rule their own great empire or kingdoms they are affluent tradesmen, with their greatest profit being the link between the Myzali and their exotic animals with the rest of the world
Since the beginning of the first Istrosi outpost, they have been sailing the sea and riding across the vast planes of the world, exploring, finding new peoples and places and good to cultivate and sell. This spirit of intrepidness is still strong within the Istrosi people today. Istrosi explorers are the first to send scientific expeditions to the great ice wall, pondering solutions to storm past it and into a new world.

Character

Every Istrosi has a last name, however, they do not use surnames. To differentiate between each other, Istrosi are known by things like the place from which they hail, their profession or a great deed they accomplished. Only in high society do the nobles of the Istrosi use dynastic names which through their naming conventions mean 'of' clan name. Age Istrosi live to the age of 50-75 years. Istrosi who live to the age of 40 gain a bonus +1 to their intelligence and wisdom while their feeble bodies take a -1 to their strength.
Alignment Istrosi have served evil despots and great heros in the past. They are a truly neutral people having lived among or under all sorts of leaders. This is not required.
