Sprites

Sprites are the warrior relatives of Pixies. They are fierce defenders of good wherever they dwelt, and are also firm judges of other creatures' hearts and intentions.

Ecology and Habitats

Sprites are expert brewers of toxins, poisons, and antidotes. In particular, they favor a potent sleep poison with which they coat their arrows. They usually harvest the ingredients for these toxins in forests, even venturing into dangerous areas to find them, but are not above stealing some from hags' gardens if extremely necessary.

Social Structure

Typically, sprites' villages can be found in glades deep inside thriving forests, or inside the trunks of trees or treants. They allow no trespassers, and are quick to judge the moral character of persisting invaders.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Because of their austerity and zealous attitude against evil, sprites are considered overly sullen and harsh by other fey. Unlike pixies, they do not care to engage in fun activities or adorn themselves. However, they are excellent judges of character, and can always sense another creature's real nature and emotions. They are quick to ally with good-natured creatures, and will come to their aid even at unexpected times.

Actions

Longsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +2 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: (1d1) slashing damage.   Shortbow. Ranged Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 40/160 ft., one target. Hit: (1d1) piercing damage. The target must succeed on a dc 10 constitution saving throw or become poisoned for 1 minute If its saving throw result is 5 or lower, the poisoned target falls unconscious for the same duration, or until it takes damage or another creature takes an action to shake it awake.   Heart Sight. The sprite touches a creature and magically knows the creature's current emotional state. If the target fails a DC 10 Charisma saving throw, the sprite also knows the creature's alignment. Celestials, fiends, and undead automatically fail the saving throw.   Invisibility. The sprite magically turns invisible until it attacks or casts a spell, or until its concentration ends (as if concentrating on a spell). Any equipment the sprite wears or carries is invisible with it.
