Sea Elves

The Curse changed the elves in body and mind in a variety of ways.   The sea elves are descended from the elves who lived on or near the Lawless Coast before the curse. Most of their ancestors were followers of Inia who were turned into weresharks to survive the curse, and they fled to the ocean, making lives in and around the water. Their descendants, both lycanthrope and not, have adapted to life underwater.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

The sea elves face as many perils in their watery world as other elves face on dry land, but none are as deadly as the Sahuagin. The animosity between these two races stems from the sahuagin's rebellion against Inia and resentment for the way their lycanthropy was warped in punishment, trapping them in hybrid form.

Darkvision. Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim Conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in Darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in Darkness, only shades of gray.   Keen Senses. You have proficiency in the Perception skill.   Fey Ancestry. You have advantage on Saving Throws against being Charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.   Trance. After the Curse, elves no longer need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After Resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.   Sea Elf Weapon Training. You have proficiency with the spear, trident, light crossbow, and net.   Child of the Sea. You have a swimming speed of 30 feet, and you can breathe air and water.   Aquatic Agility. Your reflexes and agility in the water allow you to swim with a burst of speed. When you move on your turn in water, you can double your speed until the end of the turn. Once you use this trait, you can't use it again until you move 0 feet on one of your turns.
