The beginning of time

There was nothing, and then there was everything. It all exploded outwards from a non existent source of energy. But there were no creatures and no life, apart from several concentrations of energy. Over thousands of years these evolved into beings, and they took form. They stayed on the planet for hundreds more years, creating beasts and plants and all that they could, populating the planet to bring them joy. However, they noticed that the longer they were on the planet, the weaker they became. Their physical forms were stealing their powers, taking too much of their energy. Then one decided to leave its physical form, and as it regained energy, it released some into its prized creation: the dragon, and so the dragon was a being of magic. The others saw that this god was now more powerful, although unable to interact with the world, and happy, with its best creation now more powerful, more capable than the others. They had left a legacy. The remaining gods became jealous, and many led in the firsts footsteps, leaving their forms and imparting magic. But a few gods wanted to be different, to leave something that was obviously theirs. They took two specimens their precious creatures and died, splitting themselves into the creatures, and becoming part of them. And so the six sapient creatures were created, with the upper parts of the gods beings and the lower parts of the animals. These too could use magic but were more able. In the dying of the gods, the life of these new beings were born; magic became ruled by life and by death. The other gods were horrified, and cast the six creatures as far away from each other as possible, so as to protect the earth from reaching their intelligence and capabilities. They would eventually find their ways together again. And so magic was borne into the earth and the gods became formless. They would eventually become worshipped again, as the creators of everything, but ironically, they were not the ones who created those with the minds to worship them.
