Subtle beginnings

Our three adventurers are traveling eastward on the Kish Highway, all with a goal in mind to reach the city of Breula.
You all met at the town of Midcross, where the three of you find each other and decide its all in your mutual interest to travel together.
You camped for the night off of the Kish Highway, you were rudely awakened by a number of wooded horrors attempting to take your lives. You all happened upon a enchanter's tower, inhabited by a Gnomish enchanter named Zilybar. He says that a teleportation gem was stolen from him by the horrors, and if they can retrieve it, offers the party to teleport them part of the way eastward to the town of Millstone.
You travel and rest at the nearby Pixie grove, just before it’s attacked by the cursed forest, where you needed to sprint away and go then towards the source of this curse.
You all happen upon what seems like a large graveyard, with a ruin and a large, mangled tree in the center. You approached the tree and it trapped you in bramble. It revealed itself to be the gnarled wooden remains of a Half-Elf druid named Nilovar, which Stories remembers was part of a trio of druids that killed a number of Gnomes in you burrow, and were exiled.
He explained the other two druids had left him in this forest for dead, but was able to resurrect himself as this awaked tree, attempting to destroy and rot the entire forest and everything in it, before reaching out further to kill those who have wronged him
You all denied his offer to leave him be, where he then extracted himself and attacked. Using ranged tactics, you all were able to fell the gnarled cursed tree, before he warns you about the encroaching darkness, saying “they will be legion.”
You remove the teleportation gem what was embedded in the former husk of Nilovar, before returning briefly to the Pixie grove, where you were celebrated, and Varis was given a special necklace that is a universal sign of “Ally of the Fae.” Then returning to Zilybar, he rewards you with additional potions, and affixes the teleportation gem back into his portal machine. Zilybar however was standoffish about how he lost the teleportation gem.
You all enter the portal to the eastward town of Millstone, cutting days off your journey safely. Ladida also received a note before entering the portal, Zilybar telling her to open it later for some additional money.
However, when you appear in the other side of the portal, you are approached by armed individuals telling you all to “Halt!” brandishing their swords.
