Daturi Expanse

In a far-flung corner of a distant galaxy, the planet of Oros orbits a Red Dwarf star. On this planet, human life springs up and begins its long journey to visit other stars.   Unfortunately, space travel creates more problems than it solves, and the Orosian people become fractured in a bitter civil war. On one side, the monolithic Orosian Mandate. On the other, a Confederacy of Independent Colonies. Warfare escalates, leading to the creation of biologically engineered super soldiers, and mutants that exhibit supernatural powers, dubbed 'Capes'.   Eventually the collateral damage suffered in the fighting leads to a coalition of Capes who force a peace. However, as the fighting calms down, massive corporations spring up and claim more and more planets in the wake of the fighting. Though the Colonies still claim to be independent, more and more decisions are ultimately decided by the wealthy elite, even as colonists starve and succumb to simple disease on the frontier.
