Needle Tracker

A simple tool made of Vernal and Win.

Common uses include Enforcement teams tracking down wanted or missing elves, parents keeping tabs on mischevious children, and scientists who need to keep eyes on moving experiments.

Characteristics can vary, but these trackers are usually no longer than 1 arz long from hilt to tip, and .4 arz wide in the handle.

To use a needle tracker, the needle is held in the air, usually through magic, although this can also be done in mundane ways. When the substance to be tracked has been applied or connected to the tracker, it will turn in the direction of the substance's source. This continues until either the source is found, or i nthe case of an organic substance, the signal become so weak that the needle will spin in a haphazard circle wildly.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Needle trackers are fairly simple in design and usage. The vernal of the needle is extremely potent, and allows for precise tracking of most magical and organic substances. One need only touch the tip of the needle into said substance, and the tracker will instantly begin tracking its owner.

Most common magical uses are magic-infused items, such as amulets or frequently-used magical tools, where the needle only needs to be close and activated with the user's energy in order to track. The use of the needle is immediately negated when the magical aura runs out, such as when an amulet runs out of energy.

Most common organic uses include blood, which the needle must be in contact with to track. Tracking organic beings requires a fresh source - the older the source is, the less accurate the tracking will be. When the signal weakens, the needle's direction will gradually become wider and less direct.
