Seaborn

Overview

Seaborn is the capital city of Illan. A nation of forests and sailors they are known for trading around the world though the sailors do not tell the locals what they have seen.

Demographics

With this being the capital city of Illan people from all over the Princedom have come and settled in this tight compact city. There is a great division between the classes, rings of walls keep each group away from each other after night falls, the lowest born living the closest to the sea while the wealthier live closer to the dense woods at their back. People in Seaborn know their place even though that has caused a lot of frustration in the recent years. People of all size, shape, and color can be found in the city. Though not a single Khined will be seen as they were outlawed from the city decades ago. Sometimes people will mention their neighbors when they were children with mix memories of fondness and fear.

Government

Seabon is the seat for the Prince of Illan and his family. He rules with a council of lords who had gained the Prince's favor. This is known as the Countil of Matters who run the day to day operations of the country while the Prince is off doing whatever Princes do. They will only ask the prince to court when they are unsure of his wishes.

Defences

There are three large walls and a lot of holes that would once be thrown tar and liquid fire to keep Khined from scaling it.

Industry & Trade

Imports from around the world, exports of wood and being a good middle ground for the country.

Infrastructure

Being the center of the land Seaborn is full of merchants and shipyards. Every ship that is made in Illan is sent to Seaborn for it's first great voyage. Many of the people who come to the city are ship buiders and sailors. Mercants are prevalent everywhere and they will sell anything they can to anyone who'd let them.

Districts

The Sky Seat

The main area where the Sky Keep was erected. This is were all of the government work is done in the city, at least everything the Prince and his people worry about.

Golden Road

The main area where merchants are brought when they come to the city. There is a good amount of turn around for people who are holding tempoery shops to sell their wears before they go back to their home country. People here tend to leave after a few months or move to Illan after securing a good marriage.

Ships Home

Wearhouses and shipyards as far as the eye can see. At night one can see time taking place in the dark. It's unwise to visit the shipyards during this time unless one has paid off one of the crime families. The best one to pay off is @The Ape.

Sibling's Row

Temple Square for the Holy Siblings. Brother Water, Sister Fire, Brother air, Sister earth, and Shadow Sibling. These five temples are devoted to their own deity but they will come together for most celebrations all save for Shadow Sibling who does not celebrate life but death and love.

The Narrows

The slums of Seaborn. Most of the people who live here were stowaways, criminals, or are the people who cannot catch a break from the society who leans o them. These people will work as domestic servants in larger houses, as dock workers, or as criminals who can't afford anything else.

Guilds and Factions

The Ape

The Ape is the 'godfather' of Seaborn, his reach creeps into all parts of city life and if there is a whisper of someone losing something valuable his pawn shop might have it hidden in a secret room below. His followers have a moto of 'All people are animals' and they don't see the Khined as an enemy but as another group of people. This of course leads his followers into fights with the nobility and guard.

The Promised Ones

A group of noblemen who believe they are protecting the Promised from the Promised Prophecy. They are friendly and happily tell you about their thoughts and their hopes for 'saving' the world. They also tend to be high ranking young nobles who wish they could live a life of adventure instead of one of duty.

Gentles

Priestesses of the Shadow Sibling this group is much smaller and are known for their sex work and comfort work for the people of the city. What most folk don't know is that the Gentles serve a secondary purpose where they are working against The Promised Ones to find the resting place of Nameless so they can keep him asleep for long enough.

History

Seaborn's first creation was of a humble fishing village before the Four came to found their regions. The rulers at the time was whoever had the biggest and most productive ships. This all changed with the Four were making their lands and the ancestor to the Crown came to the village and offered the current leader at the time a title so they could help manage the lands.   The title was passed around for a few families and came to Jassar's about four generations ago. His family brought the city into it's golden age, built the Sky Seat and fortified the city.

Architecture

A mix of German plaster and timber houses with narrow streets that crowd in on each other in the lower areas. In the higher areas more grey stone is used and the castle is nearly whimsical in it's construction.

Geography

Built on a hill near the sea.

Climate

Temperate closer to Virginia by the sea side.
