Tundra of the North

Geography

Plains of long-dead grass and dirt, blanketed in snow. Some grass might grow here and there, but only in places where it's not freezing 100% of the time. Rocky outcroppings of limestone may be found, and cliffs leading off to the fjords in the east. Dense, small forests dot the landscape, places where things actually grow and prosper with the protection of the trees. Veilguard Wood and Frostwood are the two largest forests in the area. Near the rapid Telegarr River, you can find plenty of rare, tundra-only animals, as that is the biggest local water source.

Ecosystem

There aren't very many apex predators here, and they usually make lairs in burrows that can be found all over the tundra. There is a large abundance of herbivores, especially those amongst the woods. Outside of these forests (and perhaps clearings), not much wildlife is to be found. Beware of any wildlife that is outside of its habitat, as that means a dangerous predator has chased it all the way out here, or that is some form of magic.

Climate

Due to its location being so far north, it is past the arctic circle of Darkguard. This causes its climate to be cold, windy, and snowy. Most days, it's a gray overcast up in the sky, and coastal weather tends to be more wet and rainy. Now, it is usually snowy here, but otherwise, it's a rather dry climate, especially if you go far north enough. Not too many lakes and ponds to be found here, or at least ones that aren't frozen over.

Fauna & Flora

Most creatures have adapted to camouflage themselves in the snow. That includes many other animals that are considered monstrous, too. Most flora here is perennial, coniferous, or some form of moss or lichen. Plenty of evergreen trees to be found in these forests.

Natural Resources

Lumber from the forests is a large one, obviously. There is also an abundance of rare animals here, so special luxury hides and meats are a big part of the economy. Some of the more mundane animals can be domesticated.
