Millennia have passed since the blood of the gods was spilled upon the land.
Aetherite, the crystallized residue of this divine essence, lay untouched beneath the earth; it's inherent power unknown until its chance discovery nearly 800 years ago. With this discovery also came the knowledge that power resides within the crystals.
Great power. Power that could be a King Maker, or a Death Bringer, in a single instance of use.
Great battles raged over who should wield this power and destruction threatened all that lived. Many were lucky enough to escape to the the ocean side of a ring of mountains said to have been crafted as a defense against the evils that sought the crystals' power.
But ultimately the power of the Aetherite decayed, leaving only motes of residue, tucked securely away in vials for study, and rumors of death and corruption to those that tried to use it.
Now, 100 years of relative peace and prosperity later, the land of those early refugees, the land in the Dark Hollow, the land of Arcadia, beckons to those that seek a new life, new friends, and new adventure.
However, what the future holds is uncertain. Power changes hands, heroes come and go, troubling times wax and wane.
Now is the time to set forth your own machinations.
