Tetlaneluayotl Kalchiuani

Character designed for Cthulhu#5992's Tharn, the Dreamland
Tetlaneluayotl "Tetlan" (Teht-lahn) Kalchiuani was an unfortunate apprentice runesmith at the dawn of the Sleeping Age, killed when a magic surge detonated the hearth-starter he was crafting. Pitied by the forces of nature, Tetlan joined the ranks of the Dead and Returned to the world of the living. Not one to let death crush his dreams, Tetlan instead took his immortality as a gift and planned to become an expert over the centuries. After extensive partying in the Lotus-like Land of the Dead, Tetlan set out into Tharn to learn about collecting Orchillium. This dangerous plant-like magic crystal is used in crafting and maintaining high-quality runes, and he planned to some day build a rune-smithery atop a Jakka mountain to cultivate the Orchillium fields that grow there.
Ten years later, Tetlan is a regular traveler on the caravans between the Land of the Dead and the rest of Tharn. He occasionally stops in towns looking for odd construction jobs to pay for equipment maintenance, but mostly sticks with merchant parties, trading stories and runes for his travel.
  • Eyes: Black, painted with runes that can enhance his sight to reveal concealed or covered runes (He's very proud of these)
  • Height: 5'5"
  • Weight: 30 lbs (+ 30 lbs gear)
Equipment:
  • Rune crafting slab ("Anvil")
  • Rune guide tome
  • Hammer
  • Chisel
  • Hand lathe
  • Several pouches of powders for paints
  • Fine brush set
  • Nails (for both detailed chiseling and odd construction)
Fun fact: his full name is roughly Aztec for "rock-plant builder."

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

  1. Skill gain and experience
  2. Pride in completed projects
  3. Knowledge
  4. Partying!

Vices & Personality flaws

Tetlan is easily swept up in the moment, ironically, and can occasionally forget what he's supposed to be doing and just keep working or partying for much longer than he intends.
Tetlan tends to be somewhat happy-go-lucky and naive, and doesn't pick up much knowledge outside of his area. Because of this narrow focus, he believes everyone should party like the Dead are able to, but never really pushes the subject.
