Octagis

Octagis is a relatively simple retinalphyte that lives in the shallows through Almaishah's ancient oceans. [design by Tdlane]

Basic Information

Anatomy

Unlike joneno, octagis has fused its trapezoidal structures together, and forms larger polygonal sections of varying sizes. This allows for a more efficient covering of the surface on which it grows. Buds form on certain sections of octages called "pentages," which are always pentagonal. Most of the anatomy is much like joneno otherwise.

Biological Traits

The fused sections of Octagis share nutrients, no other notable differences biologically compared to Joneno.

Genetics and Reproduction

Buds now form on pentages and will be ejected once mature. Each octagis will for 1 pentage for every 6 other segments.

Growth Rate & Stages

Octagis will grow new sections in Trigonals which fuse once fully grown, the time this takes depends on what kind of section it is. Trapages take 31-2 hours to grow, pentages take 36 hours, hexages take 39 hours, Octages take 45 hours, Abnormal polygonal sections vary depending on size. Buds take roughly 77 hours to grow and once they have landed, they will take 14 hours to reach stage 3. This is all assuming optimal conditions. Growth stages are the same as Joneno.

Ecology and Habitats

Octagis is a producer that lives on rocks in any temperature of water but thrives in cool waters due to lack of competition with pneumos. Unlike other members of Phytofungos; Octagis can survive in brackish coastal waters where fresh and saltwater mix.
