Goblinhold (goblinhəʊld)

Goblinhold was a settlement founded by Goblins escaping the Green Horde that tried to mimic the Dwarvish Hold structure, but instead ended up creating a unique type of hold - the goblin hold. It used to be a place of freedom and a bit of insanity, where everyone lived not under rules, but under the Hobgoblin Law.
What happens in Goblinhold stays in Goblinhold.
— The Hobgoblin Law
The settlement caved in during the earthquake of 1443 in the Age of Ruanon.

Demographics

Mostly Goblins, Hobgoblins, and Underdali escapees lived here.

Government

They followed the Hobgoblin Law, but otherwise there were no rules in Goblinhold. Murder was legal as long as you did it honorably - give your opponent a fighting chance or a warning. The dali were managed by the Small Gobbo, who answered to the Big Gobbo, and the Big Gobbo did whatever they wanted.

Districts

The Walls - they were the outside section of the settlement, mimicking the Dwarvish Hold structural defense. This is mostly where the Guards hung out, in case you were trying to break the Hobgoblin Law.   The Ring - it was not just one ring, it was multiple fighting rings, but there was one that was much larger - in the middle. It was a place of culture, you could find gambling, exotic animals fighting, less exotic dali fighting, and an abundance of explosions around here.   The Warrens - shacks and holes many of Goblinhold's citizen lived in. Each house differed from the rest, since there was no land ownership rights and the citizen lived wherever they found a spot to build a home on.   The Important Place - the noble district, where the important dali and the Small Gobbo lived.   The Boss' Place - the keep where the Big Gobbo and their friends lived.

Guilds and Factions

Ganging up was not illegal, in fact it was encouraged, because a strong Goblin is part of a strong group - that's what the Hobgoblin Law dictates. Many criminal organizations tended to visit Goblinhold, not to establish a base here, but to recruit members from here instead.

History

Goblinhold was not a strategic point, its location was completely devoid of resources or importance - apart from its cultural importance towards us understanding goblinoids. The thing that shaped and formed the settlement the most were explosions.

Points of interest

The Ring district was usually where visitors headed first. They say from there you could find anything.
