The First Era Myth in D&D | World Anvil

The First Era

The Prime Three preside over all deities, the beginning and the end, and the fabric of reality within which all mortals and immortals exist. Nameless, formless and distant, the Prime Three consist of the Forces of Nature, Time and Magic.   Together, the Prime Three created the first mortalkind and loosed them upon the material plane. Genasi of wind, water, fire and stone wandered hill and forest.   The Genasi of Stone moved underground, becoming stout and tough. Their skin softened, their muscles grew, and the first Dwarves came to be.   Genasi of Water moved to forests and glades and their magic suffused the waters in which they swam. These waters of magic prolonged their life and changed their forms, creating the first elves.   Genasi of the Winds allowed themselves to be whisked away, far from their roots and heritage. For an eternity they wandered, and piece by piece, their heritage was forgotten or abandoned. In an exchange of divinity for mortality, fate for free will, they became human.   In the fading gloom of the First Era, the Genasi of Fire stood alone in the dying light of their people.   During this era the draconians were the most powerful organized society under rule of their chosen emperors and twin-gods, The Changebringer.
