Halls of Deception

The Beginning   The halls of deception are a maze-like, ever changing dungeon designed to trick and confuse anyone who enters said dungeon. The halls were originally designed by the dwarfs of the Krag. The Krag dwarves used it as a temple (to Moradin) called The Halls of the Burning Spark. Soon after creation many of the priests began to get lost and confused while in the temple. It was found that the Temple was built on a strange magical energy that would every once in a while connect tons of different dimensions together in one condensed area. These interconnecting dimensions created false doorways, tunnels to rooms that didn’t even exist, and corridors to strange otherworldly planes of existence. Many of the priests believed that the halls could be cursed by the wrath of moradin, so they packed up and left. Some years later some curious dwarven adventurers and scholars known as The Gold’s Eye found a way to anchor certain rooms to the material plane. In doing so they were able to manipulate areas of the dungeon and create a vault/stronghold. These dwarves decided to live there since the place was so secure. While this was going on King Bertram Carrow found out what Obsidian (Sigurd) was doing. He killed Sigurd with his sword creating the Skofnung Sword, and the Heart of Obsidian. Worried these artifacts would turn over into the wrong hands King Bertram Carrow gave the Heart and Sword to The Gold’s Eye to keep safe within the stronghold they had now named the Halls of Deception.   The Stolen Heart   For a few years the Heart and Sword were carefully held inside the Halls with no one touching them. Until one of the Gold’s Eye got corrupted by the voice of Obsidian. The dwarf known as Gernis Battleface stole both the heart and sword and ran off with them to Beast Island. Hearing this horrible news the rest of the Gold’s Eye told King Bertram Carrow, so he and the Gold’s Eye created a plan to get the Heart and the Sword back. Sneaking into Beast Island they found out that Gernis had given the heart and sword to the leaders of Beast Island, “The Creatures”. King Bertram and the Gold’s Eye eventually got to where the artifacts were being held and through a series of hard challenges they were able to steal back the Sword. Unfortunately when trying to steal the Heart King Carrow was killed by Gernis, causing the Gold’s Eye to retreat back to the Hall’s of Deception.   The Aftermath   The sword still lies with the Halls of Deception although all of the Gold’s Eye have mysteriously disappeared inside the winding maze like Halls. In Beast Island, the Heart was given to General Belsor, a known Obsidian Follower. While King Bertram Carrows’ body was resurrected and given control of the undead in Beast Island.
