He hired the party to find Horatio Poole who disappeared after drinking at the Half Pint Tavern in Middle Dura (A ward of Sharn). He offered you each 50 Pounds (GP). 

Charlatan who hired you to find Horatio Poole at the behest of Horatio's Wife, Nora. Murlock pretends to be an investigator to pick up women, hence why he needed to hire you.
