Stormhelm

Set on the craggy shores of the The Kingdom of Adronia, Stormhelm is a wonderful city on the sea, known for its large fishing and farming industries. Stormhelm is a mid-sized town of around 2,000 people and one of the farthest cities from the Wild Beyonds. Instead, Stormhelm is surrounded by thick forests of oak, redwood, and birch while in any space where trees are bare, farmland is sowed, cultivated, and harvested.

Demographics

867 Humans, 632 Elves, 394 Dwarves, 454 Others

Government

Stormhelm is run by a single noble family that was sent from the capital to settle there around a hundred years ago. The nobles tax the town on the goods that they export and import to and from the capital, as well as any building, bought our built in town. The Noble family is pretty fair however, and most citizens are glad they are there to keep them under the protection of the small militia they put in place.

Industry & Trade

Stormhelm's leading careers tend to be fishing and farming, though a few artisans dot the city as well, but don't have a large effect on the economy beyond the town itself. The only money that is really made is through the trading with the capital, where they export much of their farm goods and fishing supply. The farmers and fishers get a decent sum of money for the trade, as well as other important trade goods that they sell back to the town to make a better profit.

Infrastructure

The town doesn't have a ton of infrastructure but fairly strong cobbled roads do run through town, and a few watermills set up along the River Helmshook grind the wheat into grain fairly efficiently. Very few other technological advancements are in Stormhelm, but they do have a general blacksmith, and a few odds and ends shops that profit from travelers that arrive at the port that was built out later on.

Assets

The town of Stormhelm, while not exactly a rich place has a decent community storeroom of valuables put into place by the Nobles running the town. Occasionally the money inside of the vault find their way outside to fund projects for the town, including the small market in the town square, and the small militia that is payed for partially by the smiths own goodness and the money to import better weaponry from the capital.

Guilds and Factions

Stormhelm doesn't have much for factions, but the lower class farmers and fisherman have unions of their own that keep their trades balanced to get the best profits out of each item. Otherwise, the rest of town tends to keep to themselves on those accords, as friendly as they may be.

History

Stormhelm was originally meant to be a large trading town, but when the weather destroyed multiple large ports and ships, they realized that only fishing suited the bay area that the settlers had put down their town. For almost a century Stormhelm has been practicing fishing and farming and keeping a low profile within the Kingdom.

Architecture

Stormhelm's buildings are built in a very classic Human style with stone blocks on the first half of the first floors, set below logs that hold up a large, boisterous roof made out of planks set on top of each other.

Geography

Stormhelm's town proper is set near a rocky clifflike oceanside beach while the city itself is on a windswept plane just above. The towns end continues the field to a certain degree until dotted trees turn into a thick forest farther out.

Natural Resources

Stormhelm produces grain from fields, fish from the ocean, and various livestock from the farmland. Occasionally women will gather wildflowers, berries, and herbs at the edges of the forest to sell in the market as well.
