2. Session, Mournful Morning Report
General Summary
Our Heroes slowly recovered their senses in the crypt. Half the party in shock, they managed to collect both Elise’s and Doru’s body, and guide a completely unresponsive Donavich to the main body of the church. After funeral rites for their friends and the Father’s son, Donavich agreed to come with them to the Blood of the Vine. Here our Heroes reconverged with Stern, Walther and a new ally, Thit. The next morning, Donavich was ready to plan the evacuation with Ismark.
All they needed was a distraction. Our Heroes selflessly, but some with agendas of their own, volunteered to be that distraction. After discussion and a scientific research revealing the Undead to be magic in nature, it was agreed upon to make a stand in the church, and use the funeral bell to lure in the Undead, thus providing the villagers with a possibility of escape.
Our Heroes stand went surprisingly well, drawing in every Undead in the village, but then an Undead Lychan abomination showed up. Using its peers as stepping stones, it traversed the iron gate in seconds, tearing into Our Heroes. Only with the combined might of steel and magic was the abomination slain.
But it was a short respite. The iron gate buckled and broke, spewing Undead into the graveyard. Narrowly, Our Heroes made their retreat, possible only by a combination of planning and courage. Our Heroes destroyed the means of escape, thus delaying the hordes of Undead further, attracted by the still ringing funeral bell.
Joyous with the rush of the successful endeavor, Our Heroes rejoined the ranks of fleeing villagers led by Donavich and Ismark.
