Vindar
After leaving the inlet, we found the ice much heavier, between fifteen and twenty feet thick; proceeding northwestward we found an impossible barrier of ice, and went further westward; this was also impassable, and so we headed south, watching for a slack place in the barrier to enter the ice.
Vindar is a continent located to the northwest of Cuendar. It is known for its vast tundras and glaciers, and is inhabited by the Vindari people. Most settlements on Vindar are self-governed fishing or whaling villages, but many Vindari people are nomadic herdsmen, following the grazing lands across the continent as the seasons change.
The land can be harsh. This last year, it wasn't easy. Heavy snowfall, and not a patch of grass or lichen to be found anywhere. The reindeer were hungry, and so were the wolves. When we are suffering, they are suffering too. We lost hundreds of reindeer that year. Dozens of humans. A bad year, but bad years happen. That is the way of things, in Vindar.

Wildlife
The wildlife of Vindad is well-adapted to the cold climate. Most of Vindar's plant species are small, hardy ferns and shrubs. Tree species enedmic to the continent are relatively small, and include rowans, junipers, and willows. Native animal species include reindeer, mammoths, and aurochs, which are preyed upon by polar bears, prides of saber-toothed cats, and packs of wolves. Many cetacean and pinniped species can also be found along the Vindari coast, including beluga and humpback whales and gray seals.
Economy and Trade
Vindar's economy is characterized by three things: fishing, whaling, and herding. Vindari fishing and whaling vessels tend to go out on extended voyages, returning with enough food to feed their entire village. Common catches for Vindari fishermen include cod, salmon, and char.
Vindari herdsmen, meanwhile, generally sustain themselves by herding reindeer. This is an arduous process, involving annual treks across the continent in search of sustainable grazing lands, but rewarding, as reindeer produce meat, milk, and hides. Vindari herdsmen generally move in small multi-family groups for safety and protection.
