The Kingdom of Preußens

The Kingdom of Preußens is one of the five predominant members of the Drachen Confederacy and found in its northernmost and warmest climate. The Kingdom of Preußens is a kingdom that prides itself on its ability on the field of battle, having "earned its place in the sun" by fighting off their feudal overlords in the Voldenbaum Reich some hundreds of years ago in 1525 of the 4th Age. As such, it is the youngest nation to grace the Drachen states but has made up for that in what can be considered staunch pragmatism and sensible investments in their own lands.

Structure

The Kingdom of Preußens is a strict feudal monarchy, it places absolute power and divinity in the monarch, which acts as head of state, who delegates their authority to their vassals who thusly rule in their name. Vassals who are powerful enough and hold enough lands can even delegate this further, creating vassals for themselves who swear fealty to the lord that granted them their fiefs. It is not explicitly stated that the vassal of a vassal must swear fealty to the monarch of the Kingdom of Preußens, but it is heavily implied. However, this implication is often misused and has been the cause for several wars between the Kingdom of Preußens and the Voldenbaum Reich.   The Kingdom of Preußens is ruled by King Otto von Preußens IV and is intended to be succeeded by Prince Karl-Frederick von Preußens II.

Culture

The Kingdom of Preußens gains much of its culture from the Voldenbaum Reich, of which it used to be a vassal state. As such, the Kingdom of Preußens heavily relies on its military and ability to operate on the field of battle as a way to demonstrate its strength. Of what is valued, loyalty to the monarch, pragmatism, and the ability to lead armies, if not fight personally on the battlefield, are prized above all else.

Public Agenda

The Kingdom of Preußens is a rival of the Voldenbaum Reich, and the ambition of both is hardly quiet: the grand ambition to unite the whole of the Drachen people into a single, unified nation, has been a dream that has recently been nearly impossible. With the creation of the Drachen Confederacy, the potential to unite all of the Drachen people has grown in potential; the Kingdom of Preußens is one of the few to avidly supports this unification, however, it would have to be done under the presidency of the Kingdom of Preußens for that support to continue throughout.

History

The Kingdom of Preußens was founded in 1525 of the Fourth Age after the Treaty of the Murdenholl, ending the Voldenbaum Civil War and recognizing the Kingdom of Preußens as an independent and sovereign kingdom from the Voldenbaum Reich. In the immediately following years, various feudal inheritance claims and oaths of vassalage allowed for several wars to be waged, with little effect, and ended with subsequent treaties that have come to be known as the Treaties of the Thorn. With each subsequent treaty, more and more claims held by the Voldenbaum Reich were lost on the Kingdom of Preußens, who they viewed as rebellious vassals at the best of times, until they no longer had any claims left and were forced to result to supporting and encouraging Preußen nobles to rebel in a similar fashion to how the whole of the Kingdom of Preußens rebelled against the Reich.    As of now, the Kingdom of Preußens and the Voldenbaum Reich stand on almost equal footing with each other, having established an uncomfortable level of parity with the other major members of the Drachen Confederacy. The Confederacy, at best, stands at a safeguard to prevent future wars between other Drachen states, but at any moment, a single action could lead to perhaps one of the greatest transformations of power the world has yet seen.
