The Grove of Arundel

The Grove of Arundel is named after its First Druid, Arundel, and guards a point in the multiverse where the barrier between the Prime Material Plane and the Shadowfell grows thin. Because of the druid's close proximity to the Shadowfell and its magic that leaks to the Prime Material Plane, the grove of Arundel is often viewed, and stereotyped, to be a place of cold and sorrow. This is true to a degree, as the lands are often sapped of colorful life and the druids that tend to the grove are often viewed as solemn, silent watchers; this effect is two-fold, one for the natural repercussions of being near the Shadowfell for so long and secondly as a matter of necessity, as dark creatures and undead spawn from the Shadowfell often pour from the rift and must be put down before they cause damage to the Prime Material Plane.   However, the Grove of Arundel is no more, having been recently destroyed by mysterious attackers of a scale never before seen in the Prime Material Plane, at least not in a widespread manner. Those who attended the grove seem to have mysteriously vanished, but signs of attack and destruction are obvious. Whatever attacked seemed to have the intention of weakening the wards that keep the Prime Material Plane and the Shadowfell separate; to their great credit, the druids of Arundel managed to keep the wards intact for now. But for how long, no one knows as the wards begin to fail one after the other...
