Orks

"They came in the dark of night. At first we thought it was another attack from the Elves, but then we got a glimpse of them. Deranged eyes looked back at me. They were human once, but no longer. Now they served some different, deranged purpose." -Unknown solider, circa Fae War, first recorded encounter with Orks
There are those whose relationship with the crystal magicks of Khor is overbearing, tumultuous, and toxic. They give themselves entirely into the power, losing their own selves in the process, becoming corrupted by the crystals themselves. There are others who posses such a deep hatred or such a lack of self, that the crystals seek to overpower their personality. Others, get simply swept away in a chaotic, dissonant, awful power. All of these become what the people of Khor refer to as Orks.   There are some that consider Orks to be their own species, and others who claim that it is but one entity acting with it's thralls. Regardless, it is easy to identify them. They appear as creatures, of all shapes and sizes, but with grotesque crystalline growths engulfing their body and eyes of maroon hatred. Most Orks betray the features of a human underneath, due to humans being those who least understand the consequences, and the pulse of energy centered around Korvund turned most of the humans living there into these foul beings. However, an Ork could be any living creature. Animals are rare, but not uncommon if they get caught in a sweeping wave of crystal energy.   They first emerged but a few weeks after The Shatter. Their hordes moved with a disorganized recklessness, tearing a swath of destruction through the lands. The Fae and Free Men stood up to this threat together, and swiftly, they disappeared as quickly as they had arrived. They exist now either in small pockets, or in large clusters in unclaimed territory. They conduct small raids on civilized lands, and on unprotected caravans. Those that fight them now that have fought them before will remark that there is something different about them now, they fight with precision and a goal.    Recent reports tell of something frightening, that Orks have begun to change. They speak of Orks that display new abilities, and act with cunning.
