Cryptids long hidden

In this world, much like our own, took a turn some where in the distant past. Where history and myth were both true, granted gods were just another race of humanoids far improved then normal homosapien, because of this shape shifting was not a uncommon thing for this race. Monsters, the like of dragons and griffins, are real and heroes born of 'gods' and 'mortals' fight them.   As times moved on 'mortals' start to develop the technology to fight these monsters and slowly the 'gods' began to fade into the normal population. During the transition from a dark age to knowledge and trade moving from place to place other things began to come apparent. Thanks to shape shifting the 'gods' for some time during that dark age some deviants found courtship in them leading to hybrids of 'gods' and monsters.   These hybrids became hated by the 'mortals' as they called them witches, demons, and yokai. Blaming them for all the evils of the world, no matter if they did it or not. Many of the 'pure' monsters began to go to more and more remote locations as 'mortals' began to expand to old hunting grounds. During this medieval time many of the smaller monsters began to hide within the darkness of the homes of the 'Mortals' that had claimed their land, it was also during this time that the remaining 'pure gods' began to set up a system where only them and 'mortal' hybrids to run the world through the renascences of knowledge from the dark age.   When a new land was found while trying to find a way to go to the other side of the world a few of the 'heroes' apart of the group saw that monsters had almost fully hybridized the 'mortals' in this land causing them to instigate conflict calling the people found there savages or heathens. However do to the old world hybrids surviving by being ordinary when they were apart of groups to colonized the new land. Years later the colonies broke off from the old world.   Two hundred and forty-two years later the world was quieter. Wars had deescalated as the 'mortals' had almost destroyed the world in an arms race caused by both 'mortal' ideals and the 'god' and monster war. However younger generations of all three sides are looking to start sparking the cooled fires for personal gain.
