Crurrosia

The world of Torchlight takes place on the Island of Crurrosia. A world filled to the brim with a naturally poisonous energy known as Vita and crawling with Devourers, humanity only survives, holed up in their strongholds, due to the light of the eternal first flame that keeps the darkness out. Each small village, each down, each city requires constant light from Termina, the home of the eternal flame, delivered by Flame Seekers who grow fewer each generation that passes. Within their beautiful walls, humanity thrashes and bickers over the last remnants of power within their grasp, too blinded by their great progress made in isolation to truly understanding the world beyond. As the night grows long with thinning Vita and the Eternal Flame in Termina flickers for the first time, the Uncrowned Kings have begun to awaken.
