Creui

Creui is a world fragmented long ago by forces long forgotten, in times even history forgot. A scattering of eight major continents (in order clockwise: Hyctrois, Ilthevion, Fracteia, Trus, Auregarden, Erox, Juzival, and Vespus), the seas themselves have ostracized the land to different corners of the ocean. In the middle of this continental cluster is an eternal maelstrom which gives the ocean its currents, the air its winds, and the people endless mystery. Sourced in the Terrestrial Trumpet, a set of two mountain ranges on the crumbling continent of Trus, it is said that Szaftiil, an air god, fuels the maelstrom with his breath evermore. Nobody has ever traversed the vortex and lived to tell the tale.   Each continent, due to its separation from the others, has its own distinct characteristics. However, the current age is one of renaissance, of discovery, and of trade, so intercontinental relationships are newly blossoming. Hyctrois, the imperial united continent, is in an unsteady alliance with Vespus, the internally warring technological paradise, and Ilthevion, the religiously and morally divided continent. Ilthevion is connected to Fracteia by a land bridge called the Bridge of Razla, which was decimated in the most brutal war this world had ever known only 250 years ago. This war is what gave Fracteia its name, as the fractured continent, which still has yet to recover and the aftereffects of war linger. Trus is a continent whose strong winds are literally blowing away the land, creating many islands on the North-Western shores and reducing the majority of the landmass to a flat and fatal wasteland. Only the Mountains of Mu'ul, which make up the Terrestrial Trumpet, offer any sort of refuge or habitability. It was once said that the archipelago continent of Auregarden was created from these mighty winds, but now Auregarden is more unified than ever. A new democracy is spreading across the islands, uniting them and creating a booming economy which has made it a trade hub for the southern hemisphere. Erox, the volcanic island, is comprised of a single monumental volcano which has been said to spell apocalypse if it were to ever erupt. However, its dormancy has allowed life to bloom around it, and the civilizations on its three arms engage in a silent vow of peace in deference to the volcano. This civilized lifestyle is not shared by the people of Juzival, the scorpion nation, who live in the labyrinthine jungles of the Western shores. No one dares enter the Eastern part of the continent, where dark and old forces take the foolishly adventurous into its endless abyss.   The people of this world may live divided, but this gap is bridged by courageous adventurers who have gone out and sought truth in their isolation. In the past 50 years, a great age of exploration has commenced, leading to the rise of great marvels of technology in conjunction with the traditional magical ways. Whether you are a cartographer like Joveta the Swift, a conqueror like Queen Lyra Frostglaive, or a walking legend like Ulypeus the Titan, one thing is certain: glory awaits to be plundered in this world, just waiting to be discovered.
