Cludwr Hud- Carrier of Magic

Cludwr Hud- Carrier of Magic   These are ways for people to help channel the element that is magic through themselves so they can cast a spell, the more connected you are to the other elements the easier it is to channel that force. People that try and use larger spells need to do a form of grounding work so that they can become in touch with the other elements (fire, earth, water, and air) which will help them tap into the force of magic that surrounds them. Things like meditation or washing their hands in water that use sensation and focus to take them into a calm headspace, so they are clear headed when they channel the magic into preforming the spell. With time and practise it gets easier as the connection is developed, but for most that are healers or need to channel quickly they use an energy conduit to help them ground into an element. The most common of these are stones, flowers, gemstones and seeds. The best kinds of conduits are ones that incorporate more than one element, for example feathers from a live bird (not forcefully removed) are both air and earth. These are all commonly used for magic that is ‘good’ and works with nature. Whereas to use a energy conduit for ‘dark’ magic it’s going to be taking the energy of the item itself instead e.g. flowers would make it wither and die.   As the conduits have to be taken from an element they are often highly sought after as they need to be taken with the right intention and respect to the specific element that its being removed from. These take time and to taking too much/many can damage the conduit or the area that is producing it, as if you pick too many flowers to be used in this way that particular area or plant will stop producing them as it’s nature’s way of limiting the harvesting of them.   To take an item from the elements, for example finding a gem or crystal in a riverbed means that you need to perform two rituals also known as promises. One for the Earth, and one for water, these are similar but the distinction between the two needs to be made as its of two elements combined. For water, the ritual is to be performed in the body of water that the object was found, whilst there you need to immerse yourself in the water a few times until you have been in the water itself, then you must promise to the water that you are going to be using the conduit for good and to better people. You must also express gratitude to the water for providing this for you and ensure that you will look after the element in any way that you can (like not blocking the natural flow with damns for human gain). For the ritual to the earth the gratitude that you express is the same, as is the promise to help protect the element, but with earth you must sit or lie on the bank and allow yourself to experience the environment around you for a few minutes so that you experience what the earth does, as you immersed yourself in the water.   Once these rituals are done then the object is yours to do as you please, as these promises are lengthy and quite serious it is not often that you find people harvesting the conduits for their own personal gain, instead those that are lucky to have one will often have it as a family heirloom. For the rich like the Elite they often send someone to find the rarest ones so that they can be brought back for them to use without the tether of the promises to the element.
