Awyr - Air

Before people started settling down, when the lifestyle was more nomadic, there were temples around the lands for each of the elements. As a society they were much more in tune with the elements because they were constantly exposed to them so the relationship that they had was much closer. When the society started to shelter themselves away from the elements, they forgot about these remote temples dedicated to these forces.   One of the most spectacular temples that has been forgotten is the temple for Air on one the mountain far north of the big green. The temple being one of few dedicated to air is on the very top of the highest mountain, this temple is one that is mostly intact due to it being above the clouds and other elements. Whilst it has sustained some damage the original structure still stands, a structure that channels the wind through it so that anyone inside may feel and hear the air.   The building looks fairly regular from the front but at the back the roof slopes down to meet he wall both of which curve into a funnel which catches the air and pushes it into the main body of the room. In the main room there are three necks which extend to each corner, when the winds are blowing through them all at the same time, they create a harmonious song that people say can be heard from the bottom of the mountain.   The funnels creating the sound makes it easier for the sense to connect to air, which was why it was one of the most popular temples as those that were feeling a disconnect would often make the pilgrimage to fully immerse themselves in the feel and sound of air. All along the walls are intricate carvings cut in the stone of swirls and journeys of the wind and birds soaring in open air. Some of these carvings are worn almost smooth at eye level from years of travellers rubbing and touching the stones.
