Crashland Invasion

It's 2028 in an alternate but extremely similar Earth (technology isn't really any more advanced than I reckon is reasonable for 8 years from now, borders unchanged, etc) and aliens have shown up with the intent of conquering Earth.

Problem with those aliens wanting to conquer Earth is the fact that around half of them died crash-landing in South Africa because they didn't realise we were putting significant amounts of anything, like satellites and space junk, into our outer atmosphere.

And so began the Crashland Invasion, a series of countless ruthless wars where species quickly became little more than a general indicator of what side anyone was on and aliens and humans alike swap sides and fight among themselves due to their own beliefs, loyalties, interests and desire to survive constantly conflicting with those of others and even themselves. It would be the bloodiest mass migration in history.
