Eon Rift

Eon Rift is a chronic illness mostly unique to Primordials. It's a manifestation of the progression of time on the mind of an Immortal Primordial.

It's triggered as a primordial deity starts to lose contact with the flow of time.

Causes

Primoridals have witnessed births and deaths countless times, took in information far beyond human comprehension, and live in a life boredom. They might be the first gods, but they still have a mind. When this boredom becomes to much, the brain and mind has to adapt and so starts to lose the natural understanding of the flow of time.

Symptoms

This 'condition' doesn't cause many physical symptoms, but it does cause numerous mental ones. The most notable is a loss of time compression, but it also includes issues with communication, body language and understanding. Those affected can come across as blunt, and overly curious as they begin to crave new information just to alleviate some of the boredom related to being ancient.

Cognitive Symptoms:

• Time Distortion: The affected loses the ability to place events on a timeline. Upon giving them a timeline, they either will not be able to do it, or will make mistakes and make the time of the event up. Time is more or less one thing at once to them.
• Time Blindness: The affected lose the ability to understand the passage of time. They can't estimate how long a task will take. They can't feel the passage of time, leading to missed appointments and such.
• Internal Disconnect: They have a disconnect between who and what they are and reality. They don't really react strongly, and often seem to be in their own world.
• Curiosity: They are very information hungry. Unfortunately, this leads to strange behaviours and slight upset when they run out of new information.

Communication Symptoms:

• Bluntness: They come off as extremely blunt as they do not have a strong understanding of mortal emotions or social conventions. This grows to be worse with the condition.
• Body Language: They lack expression and strong body language due to their internal disconnect.

Sequela

Temporal Displacement:

• The deity experiences random shifts in their perception of time, causing disorientation and confusion about the past, present or future. This leads to difficulties making any plans.

Age Regression:

• The deity’s perception of their age becomes fluid, shifting unpredictably. Sometimes they may regress to a younger state, while at times they feel ancient. This can also cause power regression.

Isolation:

• They struggle to relate and identify to others, even other gods, as they can't track the passage of time in other's lives. Due to their own perception of time, it becomes difficult to maintain a relationship if the other partner isn't willing to give help or leeway. The deity also understands they are likely to outlive others, even if they don't always find it easy.

Affected Groups

Primordials are mostly affected. There are some exceptions, notably Seriphiran. He's not a true primordial, as he was carved from the flesh of one, but he still has immortality and some primordial power which allow him to remain sane and alive.
