Herkenfel Guard
The guards of Herkenfel wear heavy breastplate steel armor over a gambeson. In winter, the neck and sleeve area is lined with fur for the senior guards and with added linen for the junior guard. The Majority of Herkenfel guards wield a Halberd, Polehammer or Bardiche however there are also ranged units who employ the use of crossbows and shortswords or
knives.
The Herkenfel Guard often employ Kobolds for helping find individuals in the dark. The Kobolds have a keen sense of smell which is converted from taste, and they also have heightened infrared vision which allows them to see in the dark. Because of them, escapees rarely get far before being found. As payment, the kobolds receive extra foodstuff supplies such as bread, cheese and milk which is given to them before they retreat into the sewers. A unit of special Kobolds which can even mutter some words in common are used as deputies to watch over their communities in the sewers.
Their symbol represents the cross of Saint Galen, a native of Ingsel who led the Holy in the war against the dragons of the Spitzen Peaks.
