Half-Mard

Half-mardik are born from the union of a human and a mard. While such unions are not common, neither are they unheard of, and half-mardik are a common sight in mard-dominated regions of Borea such as the [Hundred Chiefdoms].

Half-mardik grow at a rate somewhere in between their human and mardish parents, reaching physical maturity around the age of 14.

Naming Traditions

Half-mardik can be named in either a mardish or human tradition, depending on the culture in which they were raised. The choice of surname or patronymic is typically dependent on the race of the father: mardish fathers with human wives will usually want to give their child a patronymic, but mardish mothers married to human men will be content for their child to have a surname in the human style. Given names are a little more varied, and it is not uncommon for the two parts of a half-mard's name to be from two different cultures.

Major Organizations

Unlike half-elves, half-mardik are not numerous or organised enough to be a political force as a collective. While they can be a civilising influence on mardik culture or a warmongering influence in human civilisation, there is no overarching plan beyond the inclinations of the individual.
