Corraq

Corraq is a world of fantasy, recovering slowly from disaster. The dwarves are nomadic and in decline, having lost most of their population during the Skyrend. The forests of the south east are cold, and ruled by the Embrace, a group of elven archmagi that watches over all, enforces their esoteric law without mercy on all creatures within their territory. Property only exists so far as an object is worth to its owner, and traders avoid the forest lest they be punished as criminals. The deserts of the center are hot, and watched over by the Shining Empire, a human faction that forbids all but the mundane as a disgrace upon their own religion. This region only recently discovered bronze, and most of the population live in poverty and servitude of their nobles. Across the ocean lie the Scorched Lands. These were once the dwarven homelands, but centuries ago, a few years after declaring war on the Elves, their entire landmass was destroyed by gouts of strange chaotic energy that fell from the breaking skies. The gods have forsaken it, and it was believed that life could not have survived in such a barren land. Now however, the ash is breaking, and life is returning on in places around the region. The dwarves wish to return to their former homeland, retake it and rebuild. The Shining Empire, however, sees an opportunity to expand its borders into the Scorched Lands and take new resources previously denied to them by their desert landscape. Many of the elves seem to want to help the dwarves get back their own lands, if only to push them from the Embrace, but rumors spread that they have a way to bring around a second Skyrend and end the dwarves for good.
