Holtzman

A Holtzman is a piece of equipment used for long range communications between stations, ships and grounded bases. It is often too big to be carried personally and therefor must be used in a large station.

Utility

It can be used to send nearly instantanious messages between planets or even star systems many LYs away. Whilst text systems are often still available, the audio-visual channel is often under use and very expensive to use. It is also not believed to be very well encrypted.

It was invented by Bendilin Holtzman, and named after themselves.

Complexity

Holtzmans exploit a factor of the multidimensional universe. It sends a signal in a flat 6 dimensional space to establish a connection with a shorter route than it would be for any 4 dimensional creature.
