Demographics
The village is inhabited mainly by farmers and fishermen. Proximity to the river allows both river and sea fishing. A small army garrison located in the settlement is the southernmost outpost.

Government
The presence of a military unit relieves residents of many administrative problems. By definition, a village maintaining a military unit is under the direct care of the King and the role of administrator becomes that of the local troop commander.
Defences
A military unit of 300 armed elite professional soldiers dedicated to the defense of the southern border of the country. On average there are about 50 soldiers in the garrison. The remaining troops patrol the western border of the country towards the north. Another unit is stationed in Chalcopilaca and its units patrol the western border in a southerly direction.
The unit based in Otepec is responsible for the central part of the western border of the country.
Infrastructure
Ayaliscoto, apart from the military unit located on the outskirts of the village, has a relatively small temple of the god Macuilxóchitl, an inn, a fishing harbour, a blacksmith and a tailor - leatherworker dealing mainly with the repair of military clothing and weapons.
From the village there is a road that leads safely to Otepec, Tlaxcalpan and Michoa and on to Mitlan and the rest of the country.
