Collective Star

After untold millions of years exploring the cosmos, an invincible being of unimaginable power finds purpose to his existence upon forging an unexpected friendship with an alien child. He would protect her and her tiny village for all time, at last he was not alone...   Over one million years later that village is forgotten, but the cosmic being is not. He is now the One Emperor, the immortal sovereign of the Absolute Empire. His domain commands thousands of races, trillions of lives and the most feared war machine in the galaxy. But he is no tyrant, at least in the minds of his most loyal subjects. In a galaxy defined by fear, cruelty, nihilism and suffering, the One Emperor seeks to bring salvation to all.   His mission is simple: to bring peace, purpose and prosperity to the galaxy; known to the Empire as the Collective Star, and in time distant galaxies also. He cannot be killed, defeated or succeeded. He is a god in all the ways that matter and while the path to universal harmony is wrought with tragedy, the Emperor walks it with integrity.   But one being cannot change the universe, and with all his might he cannot purge the failings of mortals and their nature, nor can it quench their desire for freedom. Civilisations always seek independence and a future for their children, and sometimes the Empire cannot tolerate it.   As a new race; Humanity, is peacefully but firmly inducted into the Absolute Empire, corruption, civil war, rebellion and tragedy arise from the Emperor's very attempts to eradicate it. And soon, the will of the being shouldering the weight of the whole galaxy may at last break.
