Denseweave
Denseweave is, as the name suggests, a dense weave. Okay, let's elaborate on that; It's one of the few types of pretech that we can easily reproduce - even on some lower tech worlds! Rather than the fibers being all oh-so far apart, we slapped 'em together! Real Close!
The upside? It's lovely and warm, so even the "lightest" of outfits are pretty cozy - great for the upmarket gal on the frozen tundra AND the go! Plus, it's pretty difficult to cut through, so good luck damaging it - either by accident, or because some asshole just tried to jab a knife in your gut. Downsides, though, that's where it starts. This shit is EXPENSIVE, plus all that lovely insulation we lauded over before? Imagine wearing that in a Tropical Paradise. Not universally a great outfit plan.
Properties
Material Characteristics
The material looks like regular fabric, if a bit brighter and full of colour. To the touch, it's surface feels like an extremely fine-made silk. In both cases, this is due to the high density of fibers - with a MASSIVELY increased threadcount, the finest Earth materials barely compare.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Despite all the hype, this material is effectively just very well-woven fabric, layered a few times. There are many variants as a result, ofcourse, there'll always be a market for silk even when it honestly stops mattering for most people - your most common type will still be cotton, though. As it maintains the structural properties of the material it's made of, they can vary wildly with cotton denseweave being extremely resistant to most forms of low-tech attack, to silk being capable of stopping bullets with relative ease.
Geology & Geography
Anywhere with enough manufacturing prowess and a couple books on pretech engineering can probably throw together a couple of the required units - it's one of the few marvels that wasn't heavily reliant on Psychics and once it was worked out, you just needed to make it again.
History & Usage
Everyday use
For the majority of users, this is treated as a form of fashion - it insulates extremely well, and so winter worlds use it for regular clothing - giving users the ability to wear less heavy winterware. It is also used by the Codai Government as anti-stab outfits for ceremonial events, however this can become a bother on warmer worlds.
Manufacturing & Products
Denseweave is primarily used for clothing, but has also been used in ship sails and other large fabric-based infrastructure where strength is key.
Distribution
Trade & Market
Denseweave is availible everywhere, but is cheapest on colder worlds.
