pox

Pox is a horrible condition suffered only by the children of Cliwen. Some survive, more die. It starts with a chill and a fever. The eyes will grow puffy and swollen and puss will ooze from their tear ducts. Then comes sneezing and green blood speckled mucus streams from their noses and drools from their mouths.   As the disease moves through the body large green and yellow puss filled sores grow and pulse. As they grow eventually it ruptures and a thick black, red, and liquefied tissue erupts and oozes from each sore.    The smell is incredible. Once one ruptures the rotting tissues stench fills the air and makes the air feel thick with disease. The smell carries the infection, you see.    All glads swell as the tongue shrinks to the back of the mouth and dries and cracks making eating and drinking a shriekingly painful.   In some, blindness follows along with a constant and uncontrollable moaning. It's mournful, pain wracked. As the sufferer become soaked in pain and agony the moaning turns into pleading and screaming for death.   As the condition continues the sores dry and slough off. A new dry smell, like burnt bacon sitting out in the hot sun for a week. It's a crispy and rank smell.   There is no cure for this condition nor any treatment. It needs to run its course and the sufferer will live or die. It's as black and white as that.   Most survivors regain their site and their speech while others are let blind and mute. All of their bodies are forever marked with inch deep round scars where the sores once oozed their foul mixture.   Some people believe is the sufferer drinks the fliud that erupts from the wounds they will heal faster. Thankfully the sick persons taste buds have shirveled so there is no one to explain the taste though it can be imagined by those that smell the confliragration of smells that almost leave a texture inside of ones nose and mouth.
