laia is a country on the verge of internal collapse. a fierce famine has been wiping out its staple crops for a few decades now, and its people are chronically malnourished. those on the coast can survive on a diet of primarily fish, but those farther inland are dying easily or dying early. its government has been declared nonfunctional by the people, so it is currently a strange sort of socialist/communist anarchy where desperation has driven people to pool resources to keep each other alive. the assistance of crystalites in transporting trade goods, farming what still grows, and fishing along the coast helps laia hold on from truly widespread death. laia native colors: medium-light yellow-brown skin, brown or black hair (fine, wavy), blue or green eyes
