Summary

The Oracle of Delphi informed the party that one of their members, a tech-addicted empath named Kata Miyako, had been captured by the New York Police Department. She was scheduled to be transferred out of the city sometime in the next few days, after which Delphi would be unable to recover her. The Oracle also told them of a number of leads that could help them learn where Kata was being held, when she was due to be transferred, and what could be done to aid in their mission.   The party began by paying a visit to Mod.Net, a well-known hacker and upgrader. However, in order to make contact with Mod.Net, Hank had to make a deal with an information broker he knew - Mr. Nobody. Mr. Nobody gave Hank Mod.Net's location on the condition that he sneak a flash drive into Mod.Net's computer systems, to which he hesitantly agreed.   Upon reaching Mod.Net's base of operations, a commercial cybernetics store, Guy led the pair stealthily inside, using trucks from a nearby warehouse as cover to avoid the many cameras scanning the perimeter. They made their way to the back room and met Mod.Net, who expressed surprise that they were able to escape the view of his cameras. After a brief negotiation (and a nearly-botched attempt to sneak the flash drive into a server bank) Mod.Net revealed that Kata was being held in Precinct 12 and was due to be transferred in a day-and-a-half. He also warned them that three different armed transports were being sent out as diversions, but that the real transport had a Strider SIU-7 with them.   After bidding Mod.Net farewell, the duo decided to track down Joe Montero, the head of the Endgame Militia. Well known as military-themed rush junkies, they might be able to serve as a distraction during their rescue attempt. Unfortunately for Guy, he was recognized as having quite the price on his head, but Hank's quick talking got them a meeting with Joe Montero. Joe expressed his hesitation to help them, not seeing exactly what the Endgame Militia would get out of it, but Guy caught Joe's attention by challenging his crew to a race. Excited, Joe agreed and set them up in a Death Race against his gang members. The neck-and-neck race through the Stacks ended with a fiery explosion as Guy's expert driving ran the other racer off the road, securing their victory. Now quite friendly with Guy and Hank, and seeing that they could "show him a good time", Joe promised to ambush the two decoy transports.   The party ended the session by visiting the Black Room, the nightclub Mr. Nobody operates out of. They dropped off the flash drive and asked about a building nearby Precinct 12 that had an Interdiction Field emitter on it. After a sizable payment from Hank, Mr. Nobody told them that it was owned by Ethicon and that the emitter was on the 82nd floor. He provided them with a security ID to get into the building and use the elevator, but warned them that the automated defense systems would quickly recognize that they weren't employees.   Hank and Guy resolved to take on this challenge next session, and considered enlisting some help from other Delphi members.
