The Creeping Sickness emerges from Mana Nui

Over five centuries after the eruption of Mana Nui, a terrible sickness began to emerge in the Land of the Risen Tide, the collection of island nations encircling burnt out husk of the old volcano. The survivors of the eruption, clinging to life on the remnants of their broken continent, were finally forced to flee, as their crops began to fail, their fishing nets came up empty, and their young began to grow frail and infirm before their time. The creeping sickness poisoned everything it touched, leaving rot and decay where once there was vibrant life.
