The elves road in on sleek boats with low keels, the monks welcomed them with wine and bread but were struck down; the flaming ruins of Lindus Farm launched 1000 ships in retaliation.

The human monastery of Lindus Farm, set on a island just off shore, famed for it's wine and bread, which the monks dedicated themselves to making.
Aftermath
Unceasing raids back and forth between Elves and Men, the fortifying of shore cities, and mustering of levies year round to patrol the coast.
Historical Significance
In Literature
An elven poet of unknown name wrote a famed piece; telling a tale of his shock when the ships arrived home full of human loot and plunder, how the elves begged them to return it and then some but their own hubris and greed blinded them to their actions consequences.
Whether the story is true or a tale of hindsight is unknown. The author is thought to have been a passing Elven missionary who feared the wrath of Gods more than the wrath of men; while other think it was a recount of events by the Elven rulers daughter, who was famed for being melancholic and unhopeful about near everything.
